Your tallow balm sells. Now make it a brand.
If you render, whip and jar your own tallow balm for markets, Etsy or Instagram, you already have the hardest part: customers. Here is what changes when you scale, what stays yours, and how to do it without losing what made people buy it.

WHAT CHANGES
Kitchen batch versus production run
| Step | In the kitchen | In production |
|---|---|---|
| Tallow | Rendered at home, smell and colour vary by batch | Refined and deodorised cosmetic tallow to the GFE Tallow Standard, with a lot COA |
| Texture | Depends on the day, the cooling and the season | Controlled heating, tempering and whipping for the same texture every lot |
| Shelf life | Best guess | Peroxide value and stability testing behind the date you print |
| Label | Hand-made, often missing required lines | Identity, net contents in US and metric, INCI list, warnings and distributor line |
| Paperwork | None | Batch record, COA and SDS for retailers and marketplaces |
| Your time | Making | Selling |
HOW IT WORKS
Bring the recipe. Keep the customers.
We see exactly what your customers love before we touch it.
We reproduce it with cosmetic-grade tallow and compare side by side until it matches or beats yours.
Stability, shipping and, where water is present, a challenge test. A compliant label to go with it.
500 units or more, filled, labelled and shipped to you with a batch COA.
QUESTIONS
Questions makers ask
Do I need FDA registration to sell homemade tallow balm?
Under MoCRA, a business with average US sales under USD 1 million a year over the past three years is generally exempt from facility registration, product listing and the GMP rule, unless it makes products for the eye area, injectables, products for internal use or products that change appearance for more than 24 hours. You still need a compliant label, records of adverse events and evidence the product is safe. Check the FDA’s guidance for your situation.
Will my product feel the same when it is made at scale?
That is the point of the bench stage. We reproduce your balm, compare it side by side with your own, and adjust melt, whip and set until it matches, then make it consistently batch after batch.
What is the minimum order?
500 units per product for a custom formula. If you want to test the market first, our white-label range starts at 250 units under your brand.
Who owns the formula?
A formula you buy from us is yours once it is paid for. Formulas drafted in our free tools are drafts that contain our intellectual property until a formula is purchased.
Why does my homemade balm go grainy?
Tallow and butters set in more than one crystal form. Slow cooling or a warm parcel lets the wrong form grow. Controlled tempering and the right blend fix it; our Stress Test shows whether yours is at risk.
